Monica Catto’s work presents a refined modern reinterpretation of the colors and atmospheres of the Rococo. Painted in oil on canvas (80×80 cm), the artist conducted an in-depth study of the period, drawing inspiration particularly from the frescoes of Giambattista Tiepolo. The influences gathered during her stays in Venice are evident in her representation of an imagined paradise, filtered through the lens of the colors and forms typical of the 18th century.

Catto captures the vaporous and dreamlike essence of Rococo frescoes, employing a palette of delicate tones dominated by pastel shades of pink, blue, and green. The composition appears to emerge as if seen through half-closed eyes, where contours dissolve into fluid and almost indistinct shapes. The light brushstrokes and soft colors evoke the painted skies typical of Tiepolo’s work, but her vision of paradise is a personal one, more abstract and meditative, suspended in an atmosphere of tranquility.
Vegetal and floral elements merge with the celestial landscape, creating a dynamic interplay between the earthly and the divine. The indistinct and almost evanescent forms suggest an ethereal and enchanted world, inviting the observer to lose themselves within it. The result is a vision that evokes not only the aesthetics of the Rococo but also reinvents paradise as a space of timeless serenity and beauty, interpreted with a modern and deeply personal sensitivity.
In this way, Monica Catto establishes a dialogue with tradition, reinterpreting it through a contemporary artistic language that remains faithful to the original inspiration while speaking with a new and original voice.
